Rai Ghulam ud Din laid to rest in Gulmit, Gojal

Gulmit, November 5: Rai Ghulam ud Din was laid to rest today in presence of hundreds of people belonging to all parts of Gojal Valley.

His dead body reached Gulmit this morning from Gilgit.

A large number of people had gathered in Aliabad – Hunza to pay homage to the visionary leader as his body was being taken to his native village.

All eyes were wet seeing the female students of Al-Amyn Model School showering flowers on the coffin of the man who not founded the school, but also contributed his personal land to realize his dream of creating an exceptional community based centre of learning.

After the funeral, mourners have gathered in Gulmit polo ground to pay tributes to the legendary social, cultural and educational leader whose leadership served as a beacon of light for the mountain communities of Hunza Valley, in general, and Gojal, in particular.

Speakers at the post-funeral gathering have paid homage to Rai Ghulam ud Din for leading the society in the field of education, culture and social development.

A large number of Gilgit based people accompanied the coffin while it was being brought to Gulmit this morning.

    Rai Ghulam Uddin was a a multidimensional personality. He was a great leader of the Hunza region. His contributions towards Education, Health, Development are commendable. Hunza-Gojal has lost a great leader. This space cannot be filled even in the long time. We pray that his soul may rest in eternal peace and God Almighty may give courage to bear this loss. (Ameen)
