“Mir of Nagar” gets the crown

The young “Mir of Nagar” was crowned at a simple ceremony held in Nagar Khas yesterday in presence of hundreds of people. The crowning ceremony was attended by GB Inspector General of Police and other government officials. The recently crowned “Mir” is a young grandson of late Mir Barkat Ali Khan who had passed away in a road accident in Iraq a couple of months back.

It is pertinent to note that the state of Nagar had been dissolved by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on the basis of popular demand in 1974. The ceremonial Mir of Nagar will be entitled to a Wazifa from the government of Paksitan, just like the Mir of Hunza and heads of other former states of Gilgit – Baltistan. Photo: Zafar Abbas
