Fate of GB to be decided by the people: Naji
Gilgit, June 6: The only nationalist member of Gilgit – Baltistan Legislative Assembly, Nawaz Khan Naji, took oath of the membership today, as hundreds of his supporters gathered outside the assembly building, chanting slogans in favour of their leader.
It is pertinent to note that under the GBLA membership oath, Nawaz Naji promised in the name of Allah that he will remain faithful to the state of Pakistan.
Addressing the assembly later, Naji said that while his party wants to see GB as a separate state, the final say would be of the people. “The future of Gilgit – Baltistan will not be decided by the wishes of an individual or a party”, Naji said. He said that his party is being labelled as anti-state and pushed to the wall. “When we talk of the state of Balawaristan, people have objections, but when other parties talk of joining the state of Kashmir, they welcomed”, the nationalist leader said.
Members of the assembly congratulated Naji for taking the oath and extended support for him.
“If others try to sideline a member in the assembly, we will support him”, independent member of GBLA, Deedar Ali, said, showing his support for Naji.
