Karachi, Feburary, 27: Khudabad Cricket Team defeated Khyber, a team comprising of players from different villages of Gojal, in an entertaining match, played in Karachi, winning the Late Amjad Ali and Muhammad Niaz Memorial Cricket Tournament, organized by Shimshal Students Association.
Many teams participated in the tournament but Shimshal, Shishkat, Khyber and Khudabad were able to make it to the semi finals. In the semis Khyber defeated Shimshal while Khudabad team easily won against Shishkat, qualifying for the final.
Federal Drug Inspector, Rehmat Ullah Baig, was the chief guest during the prize distribution ceremony. Medals and trophies were distributed among the teams. Trophies were also given to outstanding performers.
Speaking at the occasion the services of Late Amjad Ali were highlighted by the speakers and the efforts of SSA for organizing the event were also lauded. Chief Guest, Mr Rehmat asked the players to internalize the three values most cherished by the late renowned social worker. He said that fair play, social mobilization skills and positive thinking were three of the traits dominating the persona of the late Amjad Ali and Muhammad Niaz.
The event provided a healthy social space for the players to mingle, compete and learn from each other.It was also an opportunity to understand the reality of brotherhood and tolerance.
The organizer of this cricket tournament succeeded to bring the student community of Gojal together, offering them opportunities to compete fairly.
