Karachi, November 13: The Aga Khan University held its annual convocation ceremony at AKU main campus today, where students from Institute for Educational Development (IED), School of Nursing (SON) and medical college were conferred with degrees.
Minister of Health Khushnud Lashari, chief guest of the morning ceremony, praised the contribution of His Highness the Aga Khan and the AKDN institution including AKU, for betterment of Pakistan. Earlier, Feroz Rasul, President AKU, address the gathering and stressed on the graduates to perform their critical role at the masses level. He asked the students to play leadership roles in their fields of specialization.
Twenty one students successfully completed their M.Ed degrees from AKU’s Institute of Educational Development (IED). Out of the 21 IED grauates five, Husain Bahadur, Sher Aziz, Ghumburi Shah (Ghizer), Salma Jan (Hunza) and Yaqoob (Nagar) belong to Gilgit – Baltistan while Salma Ali and Gul Farzana hail from Chitral.
From the School of Nursing 162 students successfully completed their studies in different faculties including Master of Science in Nursing, Post-RN Bachelor of science in Nursing and Diploma in General Nursing. Twelve of the SON grads belonged to Gilgit – Baltistan.
Ninety seven students graduated with a degree MBBS, 19 in Master in Bioethics, 10 in MSc – Health Policy & Management, 9 MSC -Epidemiology & Biostatistics, and 5 in MSc – Clinical Research.
A large number of people,including government officials and parents of the graduating students participated in the convocation.
