Switzerland is a small area in the center of Europe, full of mountains, and banks full of money. I drove for many years through this land, that just recently got highways. For ages journeys were long, risky and slow, so travellers had the opportunity to stop here and there at a gas station, a shop, a bar, a restaurant, a hotel. But when the highways arrived, traffic was piped from border to border in no time and drivers didn’t almost notice the country. The locals didn’t watch anymore columns of foreigners inching their way, and started mumbling: we trouble for the highways and they pass and go without leaving a penny. So the money-box of the world had a great idea: each vehicle has to buy at the border a dear sticker, to use the national highways for a year. Each one of a different colour, un-removable, they pile up all around the windows, pride of those who afford them. I don’t drive there so often anymore and then take the old itineraries, more quiet now. So you have this KKH problem at Attabad and hope enough money manages through the spillway to fix it, so that also normal people may somehow profit …
